Succulents are so easy to draw and as no plant is ever perfect, it’s totally fine if your lines are a little wobbly – your doodles will still look amazing!

How to draw succulents:
Start off simple with some basic potted plants. If you’re new to doodling then these are perfect for a beginner.

Succulents are plants with thick leaves or stems that are able to store water. This is why they are mostly found in arid parts of the world.
All cacti are succulents but not all succulents are cacti.
There are over 10,000 different variants of succulents in the world but only about 2,000 of those are cacti.

Certain types of cacti are edible, cooked up they are like a slightly bitter vegetable.
In the past, spines from large cacti were sometimes used as gramophone needles!
If you have more than one, you can use either cacti or cactuses – both appear in the dictionary.
There are some species of cacti that can survive for up to 300 years!
Succulents can grow vertically, eg on a wall.
They come in heaps of different colours!
Succulents are pest resistant.
